Located in Portugal, Cabo da Roca is considered to be the westernmost point within Europe. It is found within the southern metropolitan district of Lisbon and Cabo da Roca is a portion of a region known as Serra de Sintra. This cape has been known at least as far back as the Roman times when it was referred to as Promontorium Magnum. Cabo da Roca is located approximately 42 kilometres of the centre of Lisbon and its westernmost point is recognised with a large plaque. Understandably, many visitors will arrive here to enjoy the panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean.
