Until his death in September 2015, the shortest man in the world was Chandra Bahadur Dangi. He was a Nepalese farmer who measured only 54.6 cm (21 ½”) due to primordial dwarfism. He was one of seven children; three of which were under four feet tall while the rest were normal height. He was born in a small village near Kathmandu in 1939 and spent his life in the village until he was discovered by a wood contractor and named Shortest Man in the World in the Guinness Book of Records in 2012. This brought him fame and he travelled the world, meeting many people including the world’s shortest woman and the world’s tallest man. Chandra Bahadur Dangi died in American Samoa in 2015 when he was 75, reportedly from pneumonia.
