Sometimes referred to as the golden poison arrow frog or the golden dart frog, the golden poison frog is thought to be the most poisonous frog in the wild. This species is known to vary its colours from yellow and orange to a mint green. These hues are intended to warn any predators of its distinctively lethal nature. Its skin contains a type of poison known as an alkaloid toxin. In fact, there is enough poison within this frog to kill up to 10,000 mice. To put this in perspective, one milligram is lethal to between 10 and 20 humans.
