The great grey owl is the largest owl currently known and its iconic size has made it quite popular over the years. It can be found throughout the Northern Hemisphere and due to its imposing nature, it has sometimes been referred to as the Phantom of the North. Its massive frame enables this owl to prey on animals that would be impossible for smaller birds. Some examples can be moles, weasels and even other hawks. However, they can still fall victim to predators including lynxes and golden eagles.
