Anheuser-Busch is a very recognisable name within the world of beers and this is partially due to the fact that it is thought to be the largest brewer in the world. While now a subsidiary of Anheuser-Bush InBev, its beginnings can be traced back to German-American brewer George Schneider. He founded a brewery in 1852 within the city of St. Louis, Missouri. It is also notable that Anheuser-Busch was one of the only American breweries to survive Prohibition. After this act was repealed, the company was able to enjoy the lion’s share of the market within the United States. Following the Second World War, Anheuser-Busch became a major exporter of beer.
