The Spring Temple Buddha in Henan Province, China is the tallest statue in the world. The statue depicts a Vairocana Buddha and derives its name from a nearby Tianrui hot spring, noted for its curative properties. Standing at 128m (420 ft) tall, the statue weighs more than 1,000 tonnes a
nd was made from more than 1,100 pieces of copper. Construction of the buddha took more than a decade at an estimated cost of around $55 million.
