In the Bavaria region of Germany lies a Benedictine monastery, Weihenstephan Abbey. Since the year 1040, the Abbey has open as a brewery, making it the oldest continuously-operating beer brewery in the world. The brewery remains at the original monastery site, though the abbey was dissolved in 1803, its property sold off and the church demolished. The brewmasters produce a range of pale lagers and beers, ranging from the wheat beer 5.4% ABV Weihenstephaner Weissbier, to strong lagers (bocks) Korbinian (7.4% ABV) and Infinitum, which is a hefty 10.5% ABV.
