On January 26th, 1972, JAT Flight 367 exploded whilst flying over the Czech Republic. Vesna Vulović, a flight attendant who was only working that day because of a scheduling mixup, fell 10,160m (33,333ft) with the wreckage and somehow managed to survive. Her skull was fractured, both legs were broken and she was temporarily paralysed from the waist down due to three broken vertebrae (one was crushed completely). She also spent 27 days in a coma. Amazingly, Vulovic not only made a full recovery but she also boasted that she didn’t even develop a fear of flying after the incident.
Myth or not?
