The Whale shark has a flattened head, grey body, and blunt snout; it is very slow moving and can be found in the warmer waters of the tropics. They live for 70 years, but despite this long lifespan average measurements have been difficult to obtain . However, of the measurements available, the largest was 12.65 metres or 41,50 feet long, weighing 47,000 pounds, making the Whale Shark and largest shark in the world. There have also been reports of Whale Sharks being in excess of 46 feet, although these where not accurately recorded so don’t qualify as official measurements.
